Altrincham Grammar for Girls, Altrincham Grammar for Boys, Sale Grammar, Stretford Grammar and Urmston Grammar are now part of a consortium. This means that your child will sit just the one test. The raw scores may be shared between the schools if you give your consent. The 11+ Trafford consortium sit the GL test.
The other two grammar schools, Loreto Grammar School (girls), St Ambrose College (boys), have a different test.
Parents are advised that they should contact your preferred grammar schools directly to register to sit the 11+ test.
The entrance exams for Trafford’s grammar schools occur in the autumn term of Year 6. We have found that most parents start to prepare their children for the 11+ exams at least a year in advance, and year 4/5 is typical. The grammar schools in Trafford have different types of entrance exams comprising of a mixture of verbal, non-verbal reasoning, maths, English and creative writing. It is not unusual for schools that have relied on the same exam provider for an extended period to undergo sudden changes and switch to different providers. Therefore, it is advisable to verify this information directly with the schools.
